The real-life 'Fox Mulder'
Originally published in the 1950s, The Moon is Inhabited gives a sense of the tenor of the times, being an admixture of theosophy and other supernatural inspirations. The book presents ideas floating through America’s first UFO contactees near and around Joshua Tree National Monument, a park full of energy vortexes that people have been flocking to for centuries...!
Columba describes her own close encounter this way:
“A huge geyser of water with the rear end of what looked like a spaceship protruding from the top…. The geyser subsided [and] at the place where the geyser disappeared was a ring of what looked like woolly clouds. They did not move, although a strong wind was blowing.”
The Moon is Inhabited was dedicated to “‘Truths that make free!’ and to the New Space Age that we are entering.”
The gallery below showcases a portrait of Columba (top right) and a few of her art pieces from an informal portfolio; she was not only an author, but an artist, too.
